Sensei George

Chief Instructor - Sensei (4th Dan)

Sensei George, a 4th Dan Black belt with 40 years of karate experience, is an inspiring figure for all who train under him. His unwavering dedication and passion have transformed not only his life but also the lives of countless others. His extensive knowledge and expertise allow him to guide students of all ages, instilling discipline, respect, and perseverance. Through patient and nurturing teaching, he empowers individuals to overcome challenges, develop confidence, and reach their full potential on and off the mat.

Steve

Sensei (3rd Dan)

Sensei Steve, a multifaceted individual, joined Shoto Karate Australia (SKA) in 2009 at 55. He became Sensei George’s first successful 1st Dan student in 2014. With a background in education, acting, and consulting, Steven brings a unique blend of skills to his role as an instructor. He has travelled extensively, worked in various fields, and pursued his passion for surfing. Since 2014, he has contributed to community health programs and conducted self-defence classes. His creative approach and research into Shotokan Karate's history enrich SKA's classes.

Hayley

Sensei (3rd Dan)

Sensei Hayley, a Melbourne native, began her karate journey in 2011. She also competed in Calisthenics for five years before focusing on her provisional black belt grading. Starting as a white belt, she is now a 1st Dan black belt at Shoto Karate Australia. Sensei Hayley is passionate about teaching women's self-defence and providing support and techniques to beginners. With over five years of experience as a childcare educator, she builds secure relationships with her students, ensuring a safe martial arts environment.

Sempai (2nd Dan)

Sempai James, from Melbourne, Australia, began his Shotokan Karate journey at age 6. He achieved his black belt at 11, becoming the youngest in his club. Joining Shoto Karate Australia in 2020, Sempai James now teaches and mentors students, inspiring them to reach their full potential. He is dedicated to continuous improvement in his own training and teaching, fostering commitment, confidence, and respect in the art of Karate.

Sempai Vjaya, a 2nd Dan black belt karate instructor, joined Shoto Karate Australia in 2014. Alongside her roles as a wife, mother, and businesswoman, she passionately shares her knowledge and skills in karate. Sempai Vjaya's dedication to teaching is evident in her commitment to helping students grow and succeed. Her multifaceted life experiences bring a unique perspective to her instruction, creating a welcoming and supportive environment for all. Sempai Vjaya's ability to balance her various roles makes her an exceptional and inspiring role model.
