Code of Conduct for Shoto Karate Australia Club

1. Respect: All members must show respect towards instructors, fellow students, dojo guests and visitors and the dojo at all times.

2. Discipline: Members are expected to follow the directions of the instructors and maintain physical and emotional discipline during training sessions.

3. Punctuality: Members should arrive on time for training sessions and events.

4. Hygiene: All members must maintain personal hygiene and ensure that their sparring equipment and gi (uniform) are clean and in good condition.

5. Safety: Members should prioritize safety during training and follow all safety guidelines provided by the instructors. Inform instructors of any injuries or illness before the commencement of class

6. Sportsmanship: Members are expected to display good sportsmanship and respect at all times towards other club members and opponents, especially (but not only) during sparring and kata competitions.

7. Commitment: Members should be committed to their training and strive to improve their skills and knowledge of Karate, including training at home and outside class times

8. Integrity: Members should uphold the values of honesty, integrity and humility both inside and outside the dojo

9. Communication: Members are encouraged to communicate openly, honestly and respectfully with instructors and fellow students.

10. Continuous Learning: Members should have a mindset of continuous learning, be open to feedback and constructive criticism and be supportive and encouraging of other students..

11. Bullying: Shoto Karate has a zero tolerance for bullying. If you are caught disrespecting or causing harm to other students or instructors, or using karate outside of dojo other than for self defence, you will be given a warning. If the behaviour continues, the student's enrollment will be immediately terminated.

By following this code of conduct, members of Shoto Karate Australia can create a positive and respectful training environment that promotes growth and development in the art of karate.
